The SECURE Act 2.0 made changes designed to encourage employees to contribute to their employers’ 401(k) or 403(b) plans. Starting in 2025, Section 101 of SECURE 2.0 mandates that section 401(k) and section 403(b) plans with a cash or deferred arrangement established after December 29, 2022 (the date of enactment of SECURE 2.0) must include an automatic enrollment feature and an auto-escalation feature, effective for plan years beginning after December 31, 2024.
